진화랑 | SINCE 1972

진화랑은 1972년 10월 1일 개관이래 한국 현대 작가를 일본 각지에 알리고 일본에서 활동하는 작가들을 국내에 선보이는 전시를 마련해왔습니다. 그러한 노력의 대표적 일환으로 세계적으로 유명한 일본 작가 쿠사마 야요이(Kusama Yayoi)의 작품을 유일하게 국내에 보급하는 화랑으로서 활동하였습니다.

나아가 쿠사마 야요이와 한국작가가 만남을 이루는 전시를 여러 차례 유치하여 쿠사마 야요이의 국내 애호가층을 확충시킴과 동시에 한국·일본 미술 교류의 장을 확대시키는 데에 일조하였습니다.

세계적인 예술 행사인 Flac’84에 한국 화랑으로서는 처음으로 참가하였으며 Art L.A, Melbourne Art Fair, Tokyo Art Expo, NICAF에 꾸준히 참가하면서 다양한 작품교류를 통해 국제적 전시경험을 쌓고 해외진출로의 기반을 다졌습니다. 1991년 9월에는 ‘진아트센터’를 설립하여 보다 대중적인 작품보급과 국내 시장의 다양화를 추구하고 있습니다.

진화랑 설립 후 40년 가까이 한국 화랑의 발전에 이바지 해오신 고 유위진 회장님의 업적을 기리며 화랑의 역사와 잘 연계시키면서도 디지털 시대에 앞서가는 감각을 제시하는 공간이 되고자 힘쓸 것입니다.

앞으로도 국제적인 규모의 세계 Fair는 물론 국내전시의 실을 기하여 보다 건전한 미술작품의 보급과 신인작가의 발굴, 그리고 저변 미술인구의 확대를 도모하기 위한 한국 문화 발전의 일익을 담당할 것입니다.

Established in October 1, 1972, Jean Art Gallery has been in the center of the Korean art industry during the last 40 years. It has also contributed to the interaction between the Korean and Japanese art market through exhibition of Korean artists in Japan and vice versa.

Jean Art Gallery is a pioneer, being the first gallery in Korea to attend an international art fair, KIAC, back in 1984. Since then, it has continued to expand its international presence through participation in Art L.A., Melbourne Art Fair, Tokyo Art Expo and NICAF. Jean Art Gallery has also continued its efforts to build overseas exhibition experience through ongoing exchange of diverse art works.

From 2011, Jean Art Gallery has begun to place new focus on photography and media art to connect the gallery’s past with modern sensations. The gallery strongly supports young and new artists, actively exhibiting their works.

In efforts to search and support new talented artists, Jean Art Gallery is planning to open new grounds of growth through participation in international art fairs in Asia.

As we are new to the Singapore market, we would be delighted to form a partnership with a Singaporean gallery to enter into art fairs held in Singapore. To do so, we are in search of a gallery that is able to share our concept and style and create synergies for both partners.
